Next, you reach Saint-Michel Island, a military zone shrouded in mystery in the middle of the roadstead. The island faces the submarine base, a relic of World War II that withstood a deluge of Allied fire without crumbling.<\/p>

A symbol of successful redevelopment, this place of darkness is now home to the Cit\u00e9 de la Voile and an offshore racing hub. Further on, another era, another vibe. When the Kingdom of France ruled the seas, the East India Company opened new maritime routes, bringing with them exotic flavors and aromas. The Port-Louis citadel bears witness to this golden age that enriched a handful of shipowners.<\/p>

To starboard, you leave the shores of Larmor-Plage and its elegant villas behind to head out to sea. It’s not uncommon to be joined by dolphins, eager to escort you part of the way to Groix.<\/p>

The ocean is now wide open before you.<\/p>
