17 July 2024

Sauzon is home to the second main port of Belle-Île-en-Mer. Accessible in less than 30 minutes from Quiberon, this must-visit destination is perfect for a day trip to the island during the May bank holidays, as well as in July and August.

How to get to Sauzon

Your adventure begins with a passenger boat crossing from Quiberon to Belle-Île-en-Mer. Enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean during your journey. After a 30-minute crossing, you’ll arrive in Sauzon, located on the north side of the island. You can rent a bike or a car directly at the port. You can also explore the island by bus departing from Sauzon.

Discovering the Port of Sauzon

Upon arrival, you’ll immediately be charmed by Sauzon’s picturesque port. Colorful façades and fishing boats create a warm and unique atmosphere. Take your time strolling along the quay, browsing the small shops, and enjoying a coffee on a terrace while admiring the scenery.

Tourist Information Point

A tourist information booth is located on the quay, offering plenty of guides and maps. A holiday advisor is available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to answer your questions and help plan your day.

Hiking to the Pointe des Poulains

Just a few kilometers from Sauzon, the Pointe des Poulains can be reached by foot in about 1 hour and 30 minutes and offers stunning panoramic views. Follow the coastal paths for a refreshing hike. This exceptional natural site is also home to the former residence of actress Sarah Bernhardt, now a museum. A must-see for culture and history lovers.
You can either complete the full 11.5 km loop on foot in about 3 hours—perfect for enjoying the northern coast and a good picnic—or take the bus back from the Pointe des Poulains to return to Sauzon in time for lunch and spend the afternoon exploring nearby coves.
