Fast boat to Belle-Île-en-Mer, board the Kerdonis
Visiting Belle-Île is an experience that begins with the crossing. Boarding our fast boat “Kerdonis” means already setting foot in island life. Boarding points, schedules, fares and visits: here is all the information you need to enjoy this experience with BreizhGo Océane.
Fast boats from Quiberon to Belle-Île-en-Mer
The Quiberon Peninsula is the strategic location to set off for Belle-Île. A true base camp, it’s the closest point of the mainland.
Your adventure begins at the Port Maria ferry terminal in Quiberon. You board the “Kerdonis”, named after the southeastern tip of Belle-Île and its lighthouse that has been watching over sailors for over a century.
This shuttle can carry up to 295 passengers and covers the 9 nautical miles (about 17 km) that separate Quiberon from Sauzon, the second departure port to Belle-Île, in only 30 minutes. It’s the fastest in our fleet. It allows you to reach the island while enjoying a crossing that is as delightful as it is invigorating.
The “Kerdonis” operates during the summer season and carries only passengers.
HOW TO BOOK YOUR CROSSING ?
In the summer season, we recommend booking your tickets in advance and arriving early due to high traffic. We invite you to check our schedules as early as possible, on our website or by phone (local call rate). Our team on land will be happy to answer all your questions.
What is the price to board the fast boat ?
If you want to optimize the cost of the crossing, we invite you to check all our current offers! You can also choose the 2-Islands Pass and benefit from nearly 40% off your second round trip!
Other boats to get to Belle-Île
For those who wish to cross with more equipment (tent, bike or any kind of barbecue!), it is possible to board our ferries: the “Bangor” and the “Vindilis”.
These roll-on/roll-off ships allow vehicles and bikes to be loaded while ensuring optimal comfort for passengers, especially thanks to their stabilizers that reduce the effect of waves. After 50 minutes of navigation, the impressive silhouette of the Vauban citadel appears, watching over the daily comings and goings of boats in the port of Le Palais.
The crew of these ships is happy to welcome you on board all year round.
How to get around on Belle-Île?
Many means of transportation are available to explore all the activities and wonders of Belle-Île “the well-named”. Between swimming, coastal path hikes, seaside strolls or excursions along the GR®340 trail, the options are endless!
The bicycle is the most eco-friendly means, and above all the one that lets you slip through the “ribines” (narrow trails) and feel the pulse of this green oasis in the ocean.
But don’t try to do it all in one day. There are no less than 80 km of recommended routes and 6 loop circuits! The most courageous can count on their legs to tackle the many valleys of Belle-Île’s coast. For others, the electric bike is a trusted ally. You can bring your own on the “Bangor” or the “Vindilis”. Otherwise, rental bikes are available on site.
The bus is also a great way to make connections easily. Friendly and comfortable, the Belle-Île Bus serves most of the island’s villages and tourist spots. Cars are still accepted on the island, and can be rented locally or brought over from Quiberon on the “Bangor” or “Vindilis”.
