Belle-Île-en-Mer, the largest of the Breton islands, enchants countless travelers every year with its authentic charm and breathtaking natural beauty. For a truly memorable getaway, let yourself be swept away by an unforgettable day on this magnificent island, where every corner reveals a new facet of its insular brilliance.

In every season, Belle-Île-en-Mer offers a wide variety of activities for discovering its many wonders. Whether you’re with friends, family, or on a romantic getaway, we’ll guide you to make the most of a perfect day on the island based on your interests.

For travelers who enjoy walking

If you enjoy walking, Belle-Île is bound to please! After a 50-minute crossing, the port of Le Palais comes into view. Once you disembark, we recommend taking the bus to Sauzon, the island’s second port, located to the north. From there, follow the coastal path to the Pointe des Poulains—a must-see spot—about 1.5 hours on foot.

For the more athletic

Belle-Île is a true paradise for hikers. In fact, its coastal trails were voted France’s favorite GR (long-distance hiking trail) in 2022. The GR 340 loops around the island with 85 km of coastal paths, offering stunning views for all nature and hiking lovers over the course of 4 to 5 days.
