Good habits for a responsible stay on the islands

02 August 2023

The islands of Morbihan — Belle-Île-en-Mer, Houat, Hoëdic, and Groix — charm visitors in every season with their turquoise waters, microclimates, secluded coves, and vast white sandy beaches.
True invitations to travel, these islands can see their population multiply by ten in summer. For instance, Belle-Île-en-Mer has around 6,000 year-round residents, but welcomes nearly 450,000 visitors during July and August alone.
This influx, over a short period, also brings harmful consequences for the islands.

YOUR RESPONSIBLE TRIP TO THE ISLANDS

A responsible trip to the Morbihan islands is one that respects, as much as possible, resource management and environmental protection.
To support these goals, we back the Brittany Region’s campaign on eco-friendly practices and invite travelers to adopt simple, sustainable habits that are easy to implement.

Whether for a day or an extended stay, there are many easy actions you can take to help preserve the islands’ resources, as well as their local flora and fauna.
