Compagnie Océane becomes BreizhGo Océane
05 December 2024
Starting January 1st, 2025, a new chapter begins for maritime routes to the Morbihan islands: Compagnie Océane changes its name to become BreizhGo Océane. This change is part of the regional transport offer harmonization project, already initiated with the implementation of unified fares in 2023. It also aims to strengthen the integration of maritime routes into the regional BreizhGo transport network.
A stronger integration into the regional transport network
Since 2008, Compagnie Océane has operated the essential regional maritime routes between the ports of Lorient, Quiberon, and the islands of Belle-Île-en-Mer, Groix, Houat, and Hoëdic. These year-round services ensure territorial continuity for island residents, workers, and visitors alike.
With this name change, the Region of Brittany aims to:
- Strengthen regional identity: Integrating maritime routes under the BreizhGo brand reflects a desire to create coherence for users and showcase the Region’s transport authority. This regional identity will be further reinforced in 2025 with the introduction of the Korrigo regional transport card.
- Simplify multimodal offers: Under a single brand, residents and visitors will more easily identify the Region of Brittany’s transport options (buses, trains, boats), making travel simpler. They will also have better visibility of unified fares applied across the network: solidarity fare, unlimited youth pass (new in 2025). A new online ticketing platform is being developed to showcase this regional offer (launch planned for 2026).
Service continuity under a new identity
The maritime service between the mainland and the Morbihan islands remains unchanged. BreizhGo Océane serves the same destinations with the same number of annual sailings. You can access the existing website via this new address: oceane.breizhgo.bzh
The transition to BreizhGo Océane involves only a visual identity update. Ferries, maritime terminals, and communication materials will gradually adopt the BreizhGo graphic charter.
This name change is part of a regional momentum aimed at offering a unified image of public transport services. Although it involves no operational changes, it highlights the integration of maritime routes within the BreizhGo network and affirms the Breton identity.
This change of name marks an evolution in continuity. BreizhGo Océane will proudly carry the values of the Region of Brittany. Board under this new banner starting January 1st, 2025!
