Planning your trip to Belle-Île: schedules, tickets and practical tips

19 June 2025

Nestled off the coast of Quiberon, Belle-Île-en-Mer welcomes thousands of visitors every year in search of unspoiled nature, wild beaches, and a unique island lifestyle. To ensure your getaway gets off to a smooth start, here are our tips to help you plan your crossing to Belle-Île with BreizhGo Océane.

Where to board for Belle-Île?

The main departure point to Belle-Île is the Quiberon ferry terminal. Easily accessible by car or train during the summer (via Auray + Tire-Bouchon), it offers the most convenient access to the island thanks to its proximity and frequent year-round departures.

We recommend arriving early, especially during the high season, to find parking or reach the dock with peace of mind. In summer, the best option is the Parking des Îles, located at the entrance to the town. A free shuttle will then take you directly to the terminal.

Belle-Île ferry schedules

Ferry schedules vary depending on the season. In summer, up to 15 round trips operate daily between Quiberon and Le Palais, the island’s main port. The crossing takes around 50 minutes.

During peak season, the Quiberon – Sauzon line provides access to the northern part of the island, with up to 3 round trips per day. The journey takes 30 minutes, ideal for a day trip.

Book your ticket to Belle-Île

We recommend booking your ticket online in advance, especially during weekends and summer holidays. This ensures you have a spot on board during busy travel periods.

Traveling with a bike or a vehicle

You can bring your vehicle or bicycle on board BreizhGo Océane ferries. Since space is limited, it’s best to book early, especially in high season.

If you’re traveling on foot, bike rental options are available as soon as you arrive in Le Palais.
🚲 Our tip: opt for an electric bike! Belle-Île has some hills that can surprise even experienced cyclists.

Practical tips before boarding

  • If you’re traveling on foot, boarding begins 20 minutes before departure. During the summer, plan to arrive at least 1 hour early to allow time for parking and boarding.
  • If you’re traveling with a vehicle, only the driver should report to the boarding zone, 45 minutes before departure.
  • When booking with BreizhGo Océane, you have the option to add cancellation insurance – a smart move to cover any last-minute changes to your plans.
  • 🐾 Pets are welcome aboard! Small dogs and cats travel free if kept in a bag or carrier.
