The coastal path route: a full tour of the island

🚩 Starting point: Port d’Argol

The adventure begins at Port d’Argol, the island’s main harbour where the Melvan (or Kerdonis) vessel docks. A few metres from the port, you will reach the village where you will find several cafés and shops, perfect for preparing before departure. Before your visit, check the opening hours of shops on the island, especially if you are coming during the low season.

🌅 North coast: wild coves and sea views

Hoëdic’s north coast offers a succession of wild coves and small beaches bordered by crystal-clear waters, ideal for a photo break or simply admiring the sea. The path leads you towards Pointe du Vieux Château, a former defensive site overlooking the ocean and offering an open panoramic view of the sea. The scenery alternates between low cliffs, heathland covered with gorse and small beaches accessible on foot, perfect for discovering the island’s rich and preserved natural environment.

🪨 Heritage and nature

Hoëdic is home to several archaeological sites: alignments of menhirs, necropolises and prehistoric structures that recall the ancient human presence on the island. The path also crosses low heathland where gorse and dune everlasting flowers flourish.

🏖️ South coast: beaches and relaxation

The return via the south follows the beaches of Port de la Croix and Grande Plage, ideal for a swimming break or simply listening to the gentle lapping of the waves on the sand. At low tide, some areas reveal superb stretches of fine sand.
