After a short 30-minute crossing from the terminal in Quiberon, aboard our Kerdonis passenger craft, you will step out in Sauzon – a magnificent Breton port lined with colourful houses, popular amongst holiday-makers.
In May, July and August, Sauzon is the perfect starting point for a day trip or longer stay on the island.
For a lovely day out in the fresh air, board one of our boats at 9.25 am in Quiberon and step out in Sauzon after just 30 minutes. Relax with a coffee in the harbour, and enjoy this charming little piece of paradise before heading off to discover the gems of Belle-Île-en-Mer’s northern coast.
The Tourist Office has set up a welcome desk to guide you and provide any information you may require upon arriving on Belle-Île-en-Mer. Located right near the harbour master’s office, the Tourist Information Point welcomes visitors daily from 8.30 am to 11.30 am and from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm, from April to September!
As our return boats run quite late, you can enjoy a full day out before heading back to the mainland. View schedule.
Once you have disembarked in Sauzon, find the hiking trail that will lead you to another unique site in just 1h30: the Pointe des Poulains. You could also complete the full 11.5 km loop in about 3 hours, which will take you all along the northern coast and give you time for a hearty picnic. Otherwise, you may want to get the bus back from Les Poulains, so you can enjoy a spot of lunch in Sauzon and make the most of the area’s beautiful coves in the afternoon. With a return trip scheduled at 7.35 pm, you will have plenty time to discover the charming port of Sauzon later in the day, just before heading home.
Experience two different crossings: departing from Quiberon at 9.25 am and arriving in Sauzon after just 30 minutes aboard our Kerdonis boat, and heading back from Le Palais to Quiberon on board our Vindilis roll-on/roll-off ferry late afternoon or in the evening.
The Belle-Île bus lines runs through Sauzon every half an hour. Upon arriving in Sauzon, walk along the lovely harbour to the bus stop. Several lines will take you to where the hiking path starts: the Pointe des Poulains. Once there, gaze out at the splendid view for a few minutes before launching into your 17.5 km hike (about 5h30) towards Le Palais. For lunch, you can choose to eat by the port in Sauzon or enjoy a picnic out in the heart of nature! It you prefer to play it safe, Sauzon – Le Palais is also possible by bus.
Le Palais is the island’s main port, where tourists arrive during the low season. To ensure tourists are better welcomed during the peak season, Belle-Île can also be discovered from Sauzon thanks to the summer line from Quiberon, that runs during the bank holiday weekends in May and throughout July and August.
