WELCOME ON-BOARD THE COMPAGNIE OCÉANE FLEET: DISCOVER OUR DIFFERENT FERRIES: THE BANGOR, THE VINDILIS, THE ÎLE DE GROIX, THE KERDONIS, THE MELVAN AND LASTLY: THE BREIZH NEVEZ I

THE Breizh Nevez I 

The BREIZH NEVEZ I is the most recent roll-on/roll-off ferry operated by La Compagnie Océane, ensuring all kinds of crossings between the mainland and southern Brittany islands. It started running in April 2018. 

Measuring 43.5 metres long and 11.6 meters wide, it travels at a speed of 11.5 knots. It can hold up to 300 passengers, and 18 light vehicles. It is able to make the crossing between Lorient and Groix in just 45 minutes.  

Thanks to its inclusive standards, reduced-mobility passengers have access to the comfort of our passenger lounges.  

Ile de Groix 

The ÎLE DE GROIX boat is a roll-on/roll-off ferry operating between the mainland and southern Brittany islands. It started running in July 2008.  

As the Bangor’s sister-ship, measuring 46 metres long and 12 meters wide, it travels at a speed of 12 knots. It can hold up to 450 passengers, and 32 light vehicles. It regularly runs between Lorient and Groix in just 45 minutes, and sometimes operated between Quiberon and Le Palais.

BANGOR

The BANGOR started running in June 2006.  

It measures 46 metres long and 12 metres wide. Able to hold up to 450 passengers and 32 light vehicles, it links Quiberon to Le Palais (Belle-Île) in 50 minutes at a speed of 12 knots.  

Access to the passenger lounge is made easier for reduced-mobility travellers thanks to a lift.

the Vindilis

roll-on/roll-off ferry was commissioned in 1998.  

Vindilis was the very first name given to Belle-Île-en-Mer on a map in about 1000 B.C. The boat measures 48 metres long and 12.50 metres wide. It can hold up to 399 passengers, and 39 light vehicles.  

It can make the crossing to Belle-Île-en-Mer in 50 minutes at a speed of 12 knots.

The Vindilis is fitted with a lift, allowing reduced-mobility travellers to access the passenger lounges.

KERDONIS

The KERDONIS started running in July 2010.  

Measuring 30.75 metres long and 8 metres wide, this speedboat was the first in the whole fleet to be classified as a “Clean Ship”. It can hold up to 295 passengers on-board. It can however not transport any vehicles or goods.   

Running at a speed of 20 knots, it can cross from Quiberon to Le Palais in just 30 minutes. In July and August, the Kerdonis also makes the crossing from Quiberon to Sauzon.

MELVAN

Commissioned in February 2010, the MELVAN was named after the rocky islet standing out between the two larger islands it links: Houat and Hoëdic.  

Running at an average speed of 16.5 knots, it connects Quiberon to Houat in 40 minutes, and Hoëdic in 55 minutes.  

This speedboat is perfectly-designed to go to these islands and can hold up to 234 passengers and 45 tonnes of cargo.
