The cruise starts by crossing Lorient’s harbour, giving you a fantastic view of the Port-Louis citadel to your left – a valiant guard protecting the city – and of the Larmor-Plage beaches and sumptuous late 19th-century villas to your right. Having left channel, the fresh air on your face will signal your entrance into the Atlantic Ocean. The Île de Groix will then become visible from afar.
After a 45-minute crossing on board one of our boats, you will step out in Port-Tudy – a former leading tuna fishing port and now a highly-acclaimed marina. In this typical Breton port lined with colourful houses and small shops, the locals busy themselves with their day-to-day activities, and fishing and sailing boats come in and out of the harbour.
Every day of the year, la Compagnie Océane takes passengers to this natural, well-preserved treasure – which its 2,360 inhabitants love to share.
Whether on foot or by bike, travel round the island in just a day using the coastal hiking paths or special bike trails. If you wish to stay several days, you will have time to stop off in the island’s remarkable sites and enjoy the Grands Sables beach to the North-East of Groix.
